David Wood extended his lead in the series with a superb commanding performance to take the chequered fag at the culmination of the opening 15 lap race at Knockhill (10 August).

The rain started to fall as the riders took to the 1.3 mile undulating circuit for the sighting lap. Art of Racing’s David Wood took the holeshot into Seat Curves, closely followed by Ed Smith and Kelvin Reilly. As the front three made an instant break from the feld, Smith pushed for the lead into Carlube on lap 3. However, this was to be short-lived, as a determined Wood muscled back through the following lap.

Kelvin Reilly continually looked for a way round the young Smith, recovering neatly from a grass-tracking incident on lap 6 to keep his KTM sticky side down. Posting the fastest lap of the race on lap 10 (58.271s), Reilly was in touching distance and chose his moment to pass Smith for second at Scotsman briefy before out-braking himself into the John R Weir Chicane. Rejoining down in 9th, Reilly spent the closing third of the race in a damage limitation exercise, bringing his KTM home in 7th for 9 valuable points.

With Reilly off the podium,Wood celebrated his ffth victory of the season in style with a Rossi-esque wheelie at the fag. Smith took an excellent second, with Superbike magazine journalist, Jonathan Pearce a distant third.
The next action for the KTM 990 Super Duke protagonists will be another double header at Cadwell Park over the August Bank Holiday weekend (23-25 August).

Round 9
David Wood lined up on pole position for the second time of the day at Knockhill, as the KTM’s rounded out the action at the Scottish circuit.

Wood and Reilly made a quick break, with Edmeades and Smith heading a four bike battle behind. The feld looked to be stringing out in a natural pecking order until a Pat Shaughnessy crash exiting the Hairpin saw the safety car deployed and the riders closed up.

Reilly took this opportunity to move into an early lead on the restart but Wood looked to have the edge as he out-dragged the Inmoto Corse rider into turn one to regain the lead on lap 9. Alistar Fagan, riding the 0 journalist KTM eventually got the better of David Heal to take third and his frst podium since his win at Thruxton. Heal had his back against a wall, fighting to make back a 20 second penalty defcit for overtaking on a yellow fag and would eventually fnish tenth on time.

David Wood extended his lead as the series moves on to Cadwell Park for another double header over the Bank Holiday Weekend (24-25 August).
